To Evermore
Silver savior led me to a field, to her wishes I soon yield.
In her hand glistens a key, once in mine she was free.
I searched this field galore for the key's proper door.
Glowing from over a hill a door this key'll fill....
I entered this wall-less frame, echoed out was my name.
From everywhere it was chimed within some familiar paradigm.
I awoke with a spinning head in a room lying on a bed.
No light and cold, without heat, slowly I rose on wobbly feet....
A noise arrowed into my ear, I looked around there and here.
A creeping creak spun me 'round-- not a thing was to be found.
From above I felt a gust, on came a light and swirl of dust.
I backed into a whirling wall and fell into a crimson hall....
I walked until I was warm, upon me stood a hazy form.
All to see was a silver chain, I reached for this shiny rein.
My hand was suddenly seared-- this form shot me a leer!
Into this look I was tranced, absconded into his radiance....
Soon I regained my startled vision in time to witness an incision:
A needle rifled into my brain-- strangely, I didn't feel any pain.
To the sky I was being lifted, one hundred years along I drifted.
These sights I was not to believe: Every death was mine to perceive....
Babies were dying in mother's arms, Revolts to bloodshed on animal farms,
Soldiers reaching for one last hour, One final planting in the garden bower.
Bullets dancing through ballroom chests, Family slaying a host and the guests,
Hunger lays down millions strong, Bodies piled because power went wrong....
A scream arose from the unknown, I tried to move-- felt like stone.
All that worked were my two eyes and my ears-- I witnessed the cries.
I begged for pity and release, to have this burden be ceased!
Silver savior did suddenly appear, knodding her head to my fear....
Sweat oozed from terrified skin, the smell said it was morning again.
I searched around for Evermore-- found her walking out the door.
A note lied atop a table.... I removed it from its stable:
She wrote exactly, down to a tee the journey that happened to me.
