She drinks
To lessen her load,
Not knowing the scales are rising;
She drinks
To chase away demons,
Not knowing she's one of them;
She drinks
To have the upper hand,
Not knowing she's pinned under it;
She drinks
To teach people a lesson,
Not knowing she is the pupil....
Do you talk someone out of suicide
By slashing your own wrists ?
Do you teach someone about love
By swinging at them your fists ?
Do you try to pull someone from a ditch
By putting a foot into their face ?
Do you let someone into your life
By spraying words laced with mace ?
She drinks
To get someone's attention,
Not knowing she is no longer there;
She drinks
To be one of the crowd,
Not knowing she will awake alone;
She drinks
To find reasons to live,
Not knowing there's too many to die;
She drinks
To find answers to the questions,
Not knowing she'll be remembered as one.
