If I Wasn't

Could never write a song about love,
Couldn't write to any a touching ode,
And I know I couldn't definitely tell what that is coming down the road,
But there is one thing that I could speak:
If I wasn't looking, these would be easy to seek.

Forget about me writing any articles,
Don't ask if I can write a story,
And it won't do you all any good to persuade me to spin an allegory,
But there is one fact I can safely say:
If I wasn't trying, these would come right away.

Don't rely on me writing a speech,
Never request from me a dissertation,
And it will be a waste of your breath to coax me into penning a declaration,
But there is one claim I could surely orate:
If I was silent, these would be simple to create.

Do you understand any part of this,
Now you see what I'm passing on,
And if this is still left unclear, then you relate to my position.
So, when I say this, you're able to sympathize:
If I wasn't thinking, all these above would materialize.
