Final Resting Day
While they pitched the dirt on you
My face was stern and blank,
Inside was raging, outside was not:
For this I have you to thank....
There's no need to remember you
What was once thought is instinct,
You will always be a part of me:
A part that's been rendered extinct.
Some were amazed at my strength
Some thought I was being cruel,
They didn't understand what I did
I remembered to follow your rule;
You can't survive if you're weak
Our fears we can never confess,
Or your enemies will get to you
Like circling vultures on a carcass....
There's no need to remember you
What was once thought is instinct,
You will always be a part of me:
A part that's been rendered extinct.
I never said I loved you
Or told you that I cared,
You said to do it was dirty
Having your heart and soul bared;
You have always taught us
To show no agony or no pain,
Your death will not affect me
My face won't show those strains....
There's no need to remember you
What was once thought is instinct,
You will always be a part of me:
A part that's been rendered extinct.
