The Women I’ve Known
The women I’ve known in my life
They whom fostered my infatuations
I’ve never won their hands and hearts
Most ended up in better situations.
Those other few that I have lost
They are no worse off than before
All are fortunate, in one respect—
They don’t have me around, anymore.
What if I was able to win them—
I tumble in my imagination—
Where would they’ve ended up?
And then comes my resignation….
Hollow husks, tired and sad,
Lamenting a love they see wasted;
Me, just as I am, today:
Longing for a love I have only tasted.
